Floral Perfume

The very first of 7 perfume recipes that I tried was a floral perfume. I love perfumes that smell just like flowers and that last a really long time. This perfume will stick to your skin beautifully and it's also really easy to make! You need some vodka, some water, essential oil and even a little chamomile and finally some oil! That's it!

Ingredients:
2 cups distilled water
3 tablespoons vodka
5 drops lavender essential/fragrance oil
10 drops chamomile essential/fragrance oil
10 drops valerian essential oil

Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together, shake well. Place in a dark color bottle. Then allow the perfume to settle for at least 12 hours. Store in a cool dry area. Dab on pulse points for long-lasting fragrance. For added effect, add a bit of extra fine body glitter to your oil mix.

Rose Perfume

If you are looking for a specific rose perfume, this is the perfume recipe for you! This perfume smells like you just stuck your nose right in a bush of roses! It's also really easy to make – you just need essential oil, some vodka and an empty bottle!

Ingredients:
3 ounces vodka
30 drops rose absolute or rose otto essential oil
Small funnel
Coffee filters
Empty perfume or cologne bottle

**Directions:
**Add the oil to the vodka. Shake gently and allow the mixture to age for 2 to 3 weeks. This aging allows the alcohol to extract the aromatic constituents of the oil that are only partially soluble in the alcohol. You may notice globules of the undissolved constituents floating around in the mixture — this is normal.

After aging the mixture, chill it briefly and filter it using the funnel and a coffee filter. Let the mixture settle. If any additional globules form, chill and filter again. Repeat this process until all traces of undissolved oil are removed. At this point, your personal essence is ready to use.

1 tsp. dried lime peel
1 tsp. dried lemon peel

1/4 cup of vodka
Castor oil
1 tsp. orrisroot powder

Lemon oil
Food processor

**Directions:
**Combine dried lime peel, dried lemon peel and dried orange peel. Add the vodka and 1/4 teaspoon of castor oil.

Pour mixture into a glass container and cover tightly. Let sit for one week in a cool, dark place.

To make a dry citrus perfume, combine the orrisroot powder, cornstarch, dried orange peel and 4 drops of lemon oil. Run through a food processor to create a fine powder.

Classic Perfume

If you are someone that just wants a simple perfume that is classic, this is the perfume base for you. Truthfully, this perfume recipe does not have any scent, as you should pick your own, but you can use this particular recipe as a base for any scent that you want!

Ingredients:
1/2 ounce jojoba oil or sweet almond oil
2-1/2 ounces ethanol (e.g., vodka)
2 tablespoons spring water or distilled water (not tap water)
coffee filter
dark-colored glass bottle
25 drops essential oils (buy them at a health store or online [compare prices] or distill your own)
7 drops base note essential oils
7 drops middle note essential oils
6-7 drops top note essential oils
couple of drops of bridge notes (optional)

Directions:
The essential oils that you use form the basis of your perfume. These essential oils are called the 'notes' of the perfume. The base notes are the part of the perfume that lasts the longest on your skin. The middle notes evaporate a little more quicky. The top notes are the most volatile and disperse first. Bridge notes have intermediate evaporation rates and serve to tie a scent together. Sometimes other substances are added to a perfume, such as sea salt (ocean scent), black pepper (spicy), camphor, and vetiver. Since the essential oils evaporate at different rates, the way a perfume smells changes over time as you wear it. Here are some examples of common base, middle, top, and bridge notes.

base notes: cedarwood, cinnamon, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla, moss, lichen, fern
middle notes: clove, geranium, lemongrass, neroli, nutmeg, ylang-ylang
top notes: bergamot, jasmine, lavender, lemon, lime, neroli, orchid, rose
bridge: vanilla, lavender

The order in which you mix your ingredients is important, since it will affect the scent. If you change the procedure, record what you did in case you want to do it again.

5 drops organic Peppermint Essential Oil

Directions:
Melt your beeswax or carnauba wax in a glass container in the microwave. (Alternately you could also use palm kernel flakes.) Once melted, add your jojoba oil or carrier oil of your choice. If your perfume starts to solidify, simply heat for a few seconds more in the microwave. Next, using a Plastic Transfer Pipetteadd your essential oils to the perfume blend. (If you choose to use a fragrance oil instead, add up to double the amount of essential oils.) Stir well to mix evenly, then pour into your containers and label if you like.
