Spring is a great time for reinvention, meaning that it's the perfect time to find a new cologne for your boyfriend – or your girlfriend if your girl happens to prefer cologne over perfume (like me!). I love smelling new cologne just for the fun of it and my collection includes quite a few of these selections, so yes, I consider myself something of an expert. Let me be your sherpa. If your boo needs a new signature scent, try one of these delicious colognes!

Does your honey love woody scents? L'Homme Parfum Intense features essence of India Davana, orange flower, suede, and cedar wood. You can practically smell it just by reading the description. It's rich but subtle with just a touch of woody citrus – perfection!

In addition to boasting a very cool bottle, Artisan is kind of amazing. In the first place, John Varvatos knows cologne. In the second place, this cologne, in particular, smells so frigging good. That's not an elegant description, but it's what I think every time I spritz on this scent. It'd light and bright and full of citrus, such as Sicilian clementine, mandarin, and tangelo, but the complementary notes really make the fragrance. You'll smell ginger, thyme, and marjoram beneath all that citrus.

No lie, I'm a huge fan of Polo colognes. Polo Blue is my go-to, but Polo Red is just … kind of frisky. Rawr.

This is expensive. I mean, it's really expensive. Believe me when I say that it is worth almost every penny. I advise waiting for a sale, though.

Don't let the brand fool you. Abercrombie offers surprisingly good fragrances. I found this one by accident, but I kind of love it.

Full disclosure: I initially bought this because I like the bottle (and the container). I continue buying it because it smells delicious and Heather falls all over me when I wear it.

Even the packaging makes One Million look like it costs a million dollars, but no worries, it's way cheaper than that. It's light, spicy, and just a little sweet, thanks to notes such as mint, grapefruit, and rose with plenty of woody hints, leather, cinnamon, and patchouli.

By the way, if the original Artisan isn't your thing, let me recommend Artisan Blu. It's a limited edition with top notes of French lavender, basil, chayote, and bitter orange, along with scents of Egyptian geranium, Florentine iris, and French clary sage. The base notes include natural, woody scents, such as patchouli, parasol pine, cedarwood, and even pistachio tree resin.

This isn't really a brand, per se, but if you love your babe in colognes that smell fresh, clean, and natural, this is a perfect pick.

The name says it all, right? This fragrance is decadent, plus it's D&G. This is good stuff.

Mm, mm, mm! Topped with lavender absolute and bitter orange, lightened with spearmint and clary sage, this cologne is both light and sexy.

Here's a classic that never gets old. Notes of lemon, orange, mandarin, and grapefruit keep it fresh, but there are also warming notes of rosemary, patchouli, amber, and white musk.

Gucci is always a good pick. The Gucci fragrance contains cypress, birch, and violet on top with tobacco, leather, and frankincense in the middle, and cedar, patchouli, and amyris at the base.

Mankind is fresh, exciting, and just zesty. It's a bold cologne, so you have to be bold to carry it off. You'll smell notes such as cardamom and tarragon, pineapple and ginger, cedar and sandalwood – it's just kind of a delicious masterpiece in a bottle.

Forget the fact that this looks like a grenade. This is like a complement to Viktor & Rolf's popular bomb fragrances for women. It's very sensual, but also spicy. It's an intense scent, so be aware.

I find a lot of Givenchy colognes to be too heavy. That is not the case here. More than anything, you'll smell wood, mandarin, patchouli, and pepper, and they're all pretty amazing together.
Do you know anybody who's crazy about colognes? Maybe you ought to get them a present!
